Always Be Vigilant By Billy Graham

Always Be Vigilant By Billy Graham

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
—1 Peter 5:8

When I was in the hospital in Hawaii, I read again of the shocking events which led up to the destruction of the United States fleet at Pearl Harbor. On that fateful day of December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked. We know now that that attack was invited by our failure to be always vigilant. The result was the destruction of our fleet-the cause was tragic indifference. When comfort and ease and pleasure are put ahead of duty and conviction, progress is always set back.

What makes us Christians shrug our shoulders when we ought to be flexing our muscles? What makes us apathetic in a day when there are loads to lift, a world to be won, and captives to be set free? Why are so many bored, when the times demand action? Christ told us that in the last days there would be an insipid attitude toward life.

Listen to Billy Graham’s message on living boldly for Christ.

Prayer for the day
Take away the apathy, Father, that so often blinds my vision.

Be a Cheerful Giver by Gloria Copeland

Be a Cheerful Giver by Gloria Copeland

Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (that is, He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, “prompt to do it”) giver…. And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance.

2 Corinthians 9:7-8, The Amplified Bible

Some people say you need to “give till it hurts.” Don’t you believe it. God doesn’t want gifts given in pain. He wants gifts given in joy! In fact, those are the only kinds of gifts that please Him.

That’s why He tacked His promise of abundance onto His command about cheerful giving. The two are connected.

Cheerful, full of faith, even hilarious giving—that is the key that unlocks the treasure house of God. Have you ever seen a group of people give that way? I have. I’ll never forget it. I was at a camp meeting years ago when offering time turned into a spontaneous, supernatural celebration. Ken was singing Bread Upon the Water, and the people were just dancing their way down the aisles to give their money. The joy in that place was glorious. Great healings and miracles were done that night.

But what stood out to me above all was how joyously and hilariously the people brought their offerings to God. The offering wasn’t extracted from them like a dentist extracts teeth. It was brought forth gladly.

The concept of “giving till it hurts” didn’t come from God. He’d rather you give 10 dollars with that kind of joy than 20 dollars grudgingly. In 2 Corinthians 8:11-12, the Apostle Paul urges the church in Corinth to give with eager willingness. Eager willingness. That’s what God looks for!

If you haven’t given that way in the past, make a firm commitment to start. Repent for the times you’ve given grudgingly. Then spend some serious time with God and His Word in your prayer closet, so when you give again, you can give from a willing heart.

Put the “pain” of giving behind. Become “a cheerful, (joyous, ‘prompt to do it’) giver,” and believe me, your blessings will abound!

2 Corinthians 9:6-15

“Warriors of the Golden Heart, Arise” by Deborah Waldron Fry

"Warriors of the Golden Heart, Arise" by Deborah Waldron Fry

“Warriors of the Golden Heart, Arise”
Beloved. I am raising up an army of warriors with hearts of pure Gold. You, My Child, you are one of these, yes, you are of this very Special Force.

From Glory to greater Glory you are being transformed by My Spirit. The heart of stone becomes a heart of flesh by your new birth.

As you look upon Me, your heart of flesh synchronizes with the Heart of your Father. All wounds and brokenness are healed as you look to Your Comforter and Commander. I am the Author and Perfecter of your faith. I am still the Mender of Broken Hearts, Dear One. Your heart is made pure by the Blood of the Lamb.

There is no spot in you, My Warrior Bride. Forever your heart shall beat with Mine. My Golden Hearted Warriors march to the same Rhythm. It is the rhythm Of Love. You march together in this cadence of the Heartbeat of your Savior. My Spirit dwells in your heart, My Child. From this Heart of Gold shall come ALL the fruits of the Spirit. Do not be anxious about how to achieve this. It is not by works but by My Grace. This is a work of My Spirit.

Your Savior’s Heart is gentle and humble. You shall be My Army of Golden Hearts; gentle, loving, humble and true. You have been tried by fire; you have been through much, and you have come out as pure Gold! Oh, how I longed and planned to see this day. Rise up, My Mighty Warriors of the Father’s Heart. Your heart of Gold is beating now with Mine, with the fiery passion of your Savior. And I Myself will be a wall of fire all around you,’ declares the LORD, ‘and I am the GLORY in your midst.” Rejoice Beloved. It is time for your Revealing!

…Ezekiel 36:I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

…Galatians 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
…Galatians 5:22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

…Zechariah 2:5 And I will be to her a wall of fire all around, declares the Lord, and I will be the glory in her midst.’”

…2 Corinthians 3:3 It is clear that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
…1 Peter 1:5who are kept guarded by [the] power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in [the] last time. 6Wherein ye exult, for a little while at present, if needed, put to grief by various trials, 7that the proving of your faith, much more precious than of gold which perishes, though it be proved by fire, be found to praise and glory and honor in [the] revelation of Jesus Christ:

Give God Your Best Time by Rick Warren

Give God Your Best Time by Rick Warren

“Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence him. With them alone he shares the secrets of his promises” (Psalm 25:14 TLB).

If you want to build a deep relationship with God, you have to slow down and be quiet.
Friendship with God is like any other friendship—you have to make time for it. If you don’t make time for your human friends, they’re not your friends. You make time for your friends. And if God is going to be your best friend, you’ve got to give your best time to him.

The Bible says, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10 NIV).

You need to have a daily quiet time with God. You have to be still so that you can know him better.

Psalm 25:14 says, “Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence him. With them alone he shares the secrets of his promises” (TLB).

Many people don’t know God. They haven’t experienced God’s love. They don’t know why he does what he does. Yet, the Bible says that friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence him—in other words, those who slow down and spend time with him.

What would a friendship be if you never invested your time in it? Friendships need attention. You will never know God intimately if all you do is come to church services. You’ve got to read God’s Word and ask him, “God, is there anything you want to say to me?” You don’t have to use any fancy phrases or words. Just talk to him authentically. And then listen!

The Bible says it like this in Matthew 6:5-6: “When you come before God, don’t turn that into a theatrical production . . . Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace” (Matthew 6:5-6 The Message).

Slow down today, focus on God, and listen as he speaks to you about his grace.

Talk It Over

What are the distractions that keep you from being still before God? How can you limit those distractions?
Why is it sometimes easier or more enjoyable to spend time with our friends than with God? What do we misunderstand about God when we feel this way?
We sometimes over-complicate our quiet time with God. What kind of things can you do to slow down, be quiet, and spend time with God simply and honestly?
