The Battle of the Mind centred on the idea that the mind is the primary arena for spiritual warfare against the devil. He asserts that the enemy uses lies, distractions, and deception to defeat believers in their thought lives, and that winning this battle requires renewing your mind with God's Word.

The mind as a battlefield
According to Dollar, the mind is the "arena of faith" where you either win or lose the spiritual fight. To gain the advantage, believers must align their thoughts with God's thoughts.

Winning the battle through faith and grace
Rather than fighting through personal effort, Dollar teaches that victory comes from relying on God's strength and grace.

Key principles include:
Embracing grace: Believers are receivers of Jesus's accomplishments, not achievers who must earn God's favor. The gospel message, not performance, is the way to overcome the devil's influence.

The armor of God: This is not your strength, but God's strength, manifested as the Word of God.
Humility: Submitting to God's Word positions you to receive His grace. This is demonstrated by believing in and living out Jesus's finished work.

Entering rest: A true belief in God's promises leads to peace, not stress.
Strategies of the enemy
Dollar identifies several of the devil's strategies that target the mind:
Deception: Contradicting God's truth with lies.
Distraction: Causing confusion by intruding on the mind.
Discouragement: Making people lose hope in God.
Suggestion: Planting ideas in the mind to influence thoughts.
Practical application
To apply these teachings, Dollar advises believers to:
Study God's Word: Constantly studying and contemplating Scripture is what changes your way of thinking.
Become aware: Recognize how you think and what you believe. When a negative thought arises, consult the Word to see what God's perspective is on the situation.
Speak victory: Use your words to take authority over your thoughts and speak victory against negative thoughts from the enemy.
